The Future of Public Relations
New Media Technology has incredibly changed the world. Sophisticated gadgets and innovative tools had improvised our way of living. These gadgets and tools was created in order to make our lives much easier and efficient. According to Swallow (2010), Public relations (PR) specialists are one of the first groups that had utilized the usage of new media technology, especially in social media.
Internet has made a huge impact on how PR works.

The Future of Press Release
In 1906, Ivy Lee is the first person who created press release. The tangible items are given to the media or other constituents as an informative sheet. This legacy is carry on until now, but with a little bit twist. Nowadays, PR practitioner can easily email or uploaded it on the internet for viewers to see. Swallow (2010), for the past few years, there‘s been a shift towards what some of people called it as ‘social media release’. Pitchengine, PressLift, PRX Builder and MindTouch are services that are responsible of bringing press releases into a higher level with the use of new technology, through various channels including social media n e-mail.

 The Evolution of Social Platforms
Swallow (2010) attributes that PR experts said that social media platforms such as Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn are very important and these social sites will carry on becoming important tools on some level and are perceived as greater value in the future for certain industries.
Cara Stewart, founder and principal at Remarx Media stated that:
‘The most important platforms for PR pros in the future will be the ones most targeted for their clients. Twitter, LinkedIn and Facebook are ‘fun;’ getting nitty-gritty into community sites that are industry-specific is less ‘fun,’ because PR pros have to really understand clients’ technologies, business models, services and more. Really, it’s more about PR pros becoming better PR pros and understanding their clients’ businesses, as well as what their clients do … Social media is not a one-size-fits-all solution.’

Connecting with Other PR Pros

At present, there are many independent PR professionals launch their own ‘chat room’. Twitter is one of the examples where people can get connected no matter where there are. ‘Pr20chat’ is an example where practitioners can discuss and exchange thoughts, opinions and ideas about currents issues and many more and social media helps driven those relationships.

New media technology has proven to be useful for PR practitioners in many ways. It helps to
disseminate information much faster, vastly, cost-less and it is much convenient for today’s practical use.
